The fear of flying

The fear or phobia of flying can hold people back from enjoying the freedom of travelling to a chosen destination; this can be a real problem in a social or business environment. At Wessex hypnotherapy located close to Bournemouth and Poole I have helped many people to deal with this phobia.

The mere thought of going to the airport and boarding an aeroplane can be a traumatic experience for the person with aerophobia or aviatophobia. Quite often as the weeks decrease to the actual flight date, the person can show more and more signs of being stressed, anxious, or even start to have panic attacks at the thought of boarding the plane.

In some severe cases the person may actually force themselves to go to the airport only to find that they cannot board the aeroplane. This causes even more stress and tension for all concerned.


The panic and fear I felt every time I thought about holidays abroad or flying made me physically sick. I would not enjoy the thought of going away or get excited as I was always worried about the flight.

It is wonderful how I feel now, I am actually looking forward to holidays and flying and I no longer worry or feel sick. I now feel great I can enjoy the whole holiday from start to finish. Hypnotherapy has changed my life not only with the fear of flying, but with several other fears I had before such as fear of enclosed spaces and a fear of rats and now both fears don’t even exist anymore. I am now happy, confident and much more relaxed than I used to be.

It is amazing I can’t believe that having hypnotherapy could make such a difference to my life now I can enjoy everything and feel great.
