Servere fear of gaining excess weight
People with this eating disorder worry about their weight and food more than other people. They are often under weight and fear being fat. The sufferer may go to great lengths to avoid eating and may use laxatives or even cause themselves to be sick should they eat any food. Though these disorders are more common in teenage girls and young women it is can also affect older women and men.
Some of the symptoms can be:
Weight control by binge eating and then purging food by being sick
If you suffer from with these problems you will at times lose control and eat vast amounts of food. You then worry that you will put on weight and so take drastic actions like making yourself sick, taking laxatives, or doing excess exercise trying to burn off all the food you have eaten so you do not gain weight. You keep all of this a secret from people as you may feel guilty or ashamed of your actions.
Some of the symptoms can be:
Binge eating disorder
This is where the sufferer binges on huge amounts of food but do not try to avoid gaining weight by vomiting or using laxatives. You may have feelings of hating yourself and feeling low and depressed.
What treatment is available?
There are two ways to help to treat deep routed problems related to eating disorders, the first one being Hypno-analysis (analytical hypnotherapy) which is in essence cause and effect therapy and can be very effective in helping to treat eating disorders. Once the bottled up emotions are released then the symptoms can cease to be, allowing you to be free from your past problems.
The other way is to use Clinical Hypnotherapy combined with a Positive Thinking Styles course which can also prove a very effective therapy in treating these unwanted feelings.
